Posters of ‘Mittai’, a film that revolves around the relationship between a girl and two boys, have evoked protest from some cultural organisations, according to its director Anbu.
“When we released a few posters of the film which showed the heroine getting married to both the heroes at a time, members of certain organisations felt offended. All that I would like to say is that Mittai is a beautiful love story,” he says.
“The posters were released on Independence Day and they had the tagline ‘Suthanthirathai Kondaduvom’ printed. Interestingly, many have praised us too for the novel initiative”, Anbu adds.
He further says: “I told those who had opposed to the idea that it was inappropriate to come to a conclusion without watching the film. I can assure that Mittai wouldn’t showcase Tamil culture in poor light”.
Sanjay Ram will direct Sarath Kumar for a film titled 'Sethu Samudhiram'. Besides Sarath, the movie stars Radharavi, his son Hari Radharavi, Prakashraj in the lead roles. Search is on for female lead.
Says the director, "My earlier films like Veeramum Eramum, Poova Thalaya were racy action-packed entertainers, Sethu Samudhiram would be different and it would be laced with emotions".
Sanjay Ram has completed shooting for 'Gowravargal' that stars Sathyaraj and Vignesh in the lead roles. Now he plans to start 'Sethu Samudhiram' beginning on 6th September.
Speaking about the film, he says, "It is about two individuals - Sethupathy and Samuthirakani, who are close to each other. Unfortunately some vested interests’ succeed in separating them".
Leo D cranks the camera while Dhina scores the music. Deva takes care of arts and editing by Riyaz. Plans are on to produce the film in a big by budget by Lingam Theatres.
Musician Mandolin Rajesh has said that his marriage with Meera Jasmine will not be delayed anymore and it was up to Meera to make that decision whether she wants to act or not post wedding.
Participating in a television programme along with his illustrious brother Mandolin Srinivas, Rajesh confirmed his relationship with the actress. “Our parents have supported Rajesh’s decision”, said Srinivas.
Though there were reports in the media that the actress and the musician have been going steady for quite some time, this is perhaps for the first time for Rajesh to comment on his relationship with Meera at a public forum.
It is said that the lovers would enter wedlock soon with the blessings of elders from both the families. “It is unlikely for Meera to act post marriage. However, she will make a decision soon”, sources say.
No doubt that ‘Va Quarter Cutting’ is about the incidents that happen in a single night, a story that might not have much scope for songs. But this has not stopped directors Pushkar-Gayathri to opt for five numbers.
If sources are to be believed, the music album of the film, which will be released later today, will have four straight numbers and a remix. “G V Prakash Kumar is at its best in Va…”, they say.
“The music composer himself has sung three songs in the album thanks to a request from the directors as they felt his voice suited the lead character (Shiva). All the songs have come out really well”, sources maintain.
One more interesting thing about the album is that Shiva has penned lyrics for a funny number, whose starting words are ‘Saudi Baasha…’ “Besides, each character in the movie could be identified with different music”, add sources.

And the movie is also no less in reputation. Director Vasu had directed a Kannada movie 'Aaptharakshaka' which went on to become the biggest ever hit in Kannada cinema. 'Aaptharakshaka'was a sequel to 'Apthamithra' which was later remade in Tamil as Chandramukhi starring Super Star Rajnikanth.
P. Vasu was planning to remake the sequel film also in Tamil and looking for Rajnikanth to do it as well. Even the super star liked the movie after a special screening and news were abuzz saying Rajini has agreed to do the film. But it was some time ago and the Super Star got busy with Endhiran.
Now after a while the remake buzz is again afloat but with a twist. The news this time is that the Super Star has suggested Ajith to take up the film. Apparently Rajini has told Ajith that the film will fetch him a good name.
Ajith was expected to take up 'Billa-2'after 'Mangatha' but as things stand now he is likely to take up the P. Vasu film. We will keep you posted as and when things develop.
