Mohanlal opts out of Saat Khoon
It was big news in January when South Indian superstar Mohanlal's name was considered for the role of one of the seven husbands of sexy Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra in her forthcoming Bollywood movie Saat Khoon Maaf to be directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. But according to latest reports, Mohanlal has opted out of Saat Khoon Maaf, as he has no free dates.
"I would have loved to do the film based on Ruskin Bond’s short story 'Susanna’s Seven Husbands'. Vishal came down to Kochi and narrated the entire story and I was hooked. But after that, he never got back to sign me up officially or discuss the dates of the shoot. Now it’s too late as I have other commitments for the rest of the year," Mohanlal was quoted as saying.

Kangna Ranaut: Brand ambassador for Alcatel mobiles?
She is someone who can rightly be called the 'Eternal Sunshine Girl', for her smile is something that simply makes everyone's day come alive. Though she hails from a small town of Himachal, in no time she has made an impeccable mark in Bollywood. She is none other than Kangna Ranaut, the girl whose name is on everyone's lips ever since she said 'Cheese' to the 70mm silver screen.
Kangna was the topic of every discussion after she got a National Award for her superlative performance in the smash hit Fashion. After having endorsed FMCGs like Levis and many other brands, Kangna has now been roped in as the brand ambassador of Alcatel mobile phones. Our source added: "The said company, after making its mark initially in the market, was out of the scene for a long time. But now, it's going to bounce back big time. That's the reason they have roped in a 'Hot Property' like Kangna Ranaut, as they feel that Kangna's persona and face value are simply enough for the company to attract the attention that will set the ball rolling for them. The ads too have been conceptualized in such a way that they will boost the company's image big time." The (re)launch of the said brand of mobiles will happen around late this year.

For years, Ram Gopal Varma has been working on Raktha Charitra, a story about the life of Paritala Ravi, prime suspect in many murders. At last, the story will be narrated on celluloid. Rakta Charitra will have actor Vivek Oberoi as rebel-turned politician Paritala Ravi, one of the most-feared individuals in the blood-ridden faction politics of South India. Suriya will play the role of Maddalcheruvu Suri, Paritala Ravi’s opponent. The film is a trilingual made simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
“I think he (Suriya) is going to be very big in Hindi. Already, there is a lot of talk about him after seeing the rushes of Rakta Charitra. And two-three producers are thinking about signing him up for their next films. People in North India might not have seen it, but quite a lot of people in the film industry have seen his performance in Ghajini and they are impressed and feel he did better (than Aamir Khan). So, Bollywood knows who Suriya is and what his capacity is. It is only the public in North India which isn’t aware of him because he has not done any Hindi film till now,” RGV said to a leading English daily. uriya’s 25th film, is produced by Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja. Sony Music have recently bagged the audio rights of the film. Music composed by Devi Sri Prasad will be launched soon.
The story of Singam reportedly revolves around smuggling activities taking place in Rameswaram. Suriya plays a cop after a long time (remember Khaaka Khaaka?) and the film will have all the required ingredients to keep audiences engaged without a lag in narration. Singam also has Anushka and Prakashraj in important roles
Vijay Antony Live in Malaysia
Popular South Indian music composer Vijay Antony is getting set to enthrall audiences in Malaysia tomorrow evening in a LIVE concert. Vijay has made some impressive numbers since his foray into cinema, and while we hear that he is busy with his acting debut Naan, we continue to relish his rhythms. Vijay's music for the movies Ninaithale Inikkum and Vettaikaran were not only chart-toppers in South India, but reinforced his popularity in Malaysia, making this concert and even more welcome event with the general public. However we have reason to believe that certain organizations in Malaysia are not in Vijay Antony's favour and are working towards boycotting the event. Let's hope that they sort out their differences in time for what promises to be an electrifying evening!
Raavanan audio on Sony Music coming soon!
One of India's finest filmmaker, Mani Ratnam's most ambitious project Raavan is all set to hit screens on June. The film is made simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Now the latest buzz is that the film is titled as Raavanan in Tamil and Villan in Telugu.
The audio of the Telugu and Tamil versions are expected to be launched soon. Sony Music has bagged the Tamil-Telugu audio rights of the film, which has music composed by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman. Raavanan stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Prithviraj and Priyamani in lead roles.
Ranjitha is not out of Raavan!
Contrary to earlier rumours that popular South Indian actress Ranjitha (who was dragged into a sex scandal after she was seen in compromising positions with popular spiritual and mystic guru Swamy Nityananda in a sex video tape aired by Sun TV on March 2) has been removed from ace Mani Ratnam's mega movie Raavan, it is confirmed that Mani Ratnam has decided to retain her portions in the film.
After the controversy hit national headlines, Ranjitha went underground. Mani Ratnam was left with the dilemma of either reshooting her portions with another actress or going ahead with Ranjitha. Eventually, the director has decided to go with Ranjitha’s scenes. It is worth mentioning here that Ranjitha plays Vikram's sister-in-law in the Tamil version
Bala to team up with Vikram
National award winning director Bala is currently busy with his upcoming flick Avan Ivan with Arya and Vishal. The latest buzz is that the director will team up with Vikram for a quick film after completing Avan Ivan. Sources say that this film with Vikram will be completed in eight months. So, after giving a stupendous performance in Sethu and Pithamagan, Kollywood's favourite duo Vikram and Bala will be back together!
Selvaraghavan gets ready for Rana’s film
Ace director Selvaragavan is going to start his new bi-lingual film in Tamil and Telugu with hot and happening Telugu star Rana Daggubati. Remember Rana’s debut film in Telugu Leader directed by Shekhar Kanmmula was a super hit.
Rana is the grandson of legendary Telugu producer Rama Naidu and nephew of superstar Venkatesh. Rana’s father Suresh is himself a leading producer and runs the family concern Suresh Productions. Rana, unlike other Telugu heroes things differently and is not enamored doing mass action movies.
So Rana and Selva who also thinks out of the box as far as filmmaking is concerned have bonded well. Selvaraghavan is being paid a bomb by Suresh Productions to do this big budget bi-lingual. Selva has worked on the script for the last few months and it looks interesting as both of them wants to do something different within the commercial format.
Rana did not have any dance numbers in Leader. Selva is going to showcase his dancing skills, to the tunes of young music director GV Prakash. Last week Selva was in Mumbai looking for a new girl to play Rana’s heroine in the film. Contrary to rumours, Selva’s muse Andrea is not doing the film.
Recently Rana twittered- “Selvaraghavan without doubt is one of the finest filmmakers in this part of the country. Really looking forward to working with him.” The buzz is that Rana has given him bulk dates to complete the film by the end of the year.
Nayanthara- Back where she belongs!
Even though she is one of the top stars in south Indian cinema, Nayanthara’s potential is yet untapped by Tamil film industry.
But like they say, you cannot hold back a good actor for long. In Kerala, Nayan had raked in accolades for her stupendous performance in Siddique directed Bodyguard which is now remade in Tamil with her bĂȘte noire Asin doing the lead role.
After completing the schedule of her Kannada film with Upendra, Nayan is joining the unit of her next big film Electra to be directed by Shayamaprasad in Malayalam. Manisha Koirala and Prakash Raj plays Nayan’s mom and dad in the film and sources close to the unit say that she has an author-backed role.
The shooting is starting in a huge mansion near the backwaters of Alleppy in Kerala from April 27.
A new Nair girl in Kollywood
Ranjithaa Nair is the new Malayalee girl to try her luck in Kollywood.
The Bangalore based Rajnjithaa, has added an extra ‘a’ to her name, to avoid being confused with old timer actress Ranjitha of Nithyananda Swamy sex scandal fame.
Ranjithaa is doing the heroine’s role in one time leading producer KT Kunjumon’s new untitled film with all newcomers.
Kunjumon is known as the “man with the midas touch”, who has introduced girls like Nagma and director Shankar to Tamil screen.
Kunjumon will be starting his new film in June after the release of his Kathalikku Maranam Illai in May.
Ranjithaa is already playing second lead in the Malayalam film Chaverpada.
Vikram in Mumbai for Raavan audio launch
Vikram is in Mumbai for the audio launch of the biggest movie of the year, Mani Ratnam’s Raavan.
The music of the movie by Oscar winner AR Rahman has already made a presence on the net and is a runaway super hit.
Raavan, is the most anticipated album in recent times as Gulzar- Rahman- Mani is a deadly trio. Who can forget the foot stomping Chaiyya, Chaiyaa… from the trios earlier Dil Se?
The songs of Raavan have a earthy feel about it and Beera Beera…, Behne De… are sure going to be chartbusters. Audio industry trackers say that it is going to be the album of the year. Remember Mani sir- ARR music has never failed.
T-Series' president- marketing media publishing Vinod Bhanushali said: "The movie has the magical combination of A R Rahman and Mani Ratnam. It is also Mani sir's first project with us and we are going to promote it through every possible medium."
Meanwhile Vikram will be there at today’s launch. It will be his first major exposure to Bollywood. Says Vikram: “I’m thrilled to be a part of Raavan and looking forward to a great evening.”
