Director P Vasu’s sequel to the blockbuster Kannada film Apthamithra,


titled Aptharaksha is nearing completion. As like in the original, the director had roped in Vishnu Vardhan to play the lead role. This has raised the speculations that Vasu may contemplate remaking the film in Tamil. When questioned about this, the director said that he had narrated a one-line story to Rajinikanth and the ball is now in his court. Vasu says that Aptharaksha has four heroines in the star cast – Sandhya, Bhavana, Lakshmi Gopalasamy and Vimala Raman but he refused to disclose who among them plays the Chandramukhi role.

Meanwhile, the director has lapped up an opportunity to direct a Hindi film. This film, which is yet to be titled, is said to have Saif Ali Khan in the lead


Shruti corrects Kamal



Shruti Haasan is wielding the music baton for the film Unnaipol Oruvan in which his father Kamal Haasan plays the lead role along with Mohanlal.

The lady recently recorded two songs for which her father has rendered his voice. Speaking about this to the media, the veteran actor says that it was great moment to sing for his daughter’s composition. He also proudly recalled that Shruti made a few corrections to his rendition. Kamal says that though the original version, A Wednesday, did not have any songs, Unnaipol Oruvan has given importance to music.



Rs. 6 lakhs worth jewelry missing from actor’s house



‘Thalaivasal’ Vijay is shaken over a burglary that took place at his residence. Initial reports suggest that about 55 sovereigns of gold jewelry and Rs. 25000 cash were missing from the locker in his house. Investigations are on.

The actor, a resident of Kodambakkam, lives with his wife and two children. Sources say that Vijay’s wife was sleeping in a separate room while he and the children were in another room.

‘Thalaivasal’ Vijay, as he is popularly known after carving a niche for himself with the film title Thalaivasal, has donned the character artiste role in several smash hit films. He is presently starring in Vijay’s Vettaikaran.

Sources say that the actor is keen on a soft romantic story this time and is scouting for a suitable director. irector Murugadoss, in a recent interview to a popular magazine, was quizzed about his fears, apprehensions and dreams. Notable among the answers were the ones that were on his fears and dreams. The director said that he would very often dream of holding a discussion with the ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan. Unfortunately, the director says, he would not be able to recall about the discussion he had when he wakes up in the morning.

Talking about his latest dream, Murugadoss said that he dreamt of pigs chasing him. Recalling this dream, the director says that probably it was a reflection of the swine flu fear that he had



Sameera Reddy on Ajith’s free time



Sameera Reddy is back from Malaysia after completing her schedule for Asal. Now the team is planning to move to Europe for the next schedule.

In an interview, the Varanam Aayiram girl said that she loves sea sports and had spent her free time in Malaysia scuba diving. When asked if Ajith would accompany her, the actress said that Ajith is always busy watching home videos of his daughter during his spare time.

Ajith also took a break to be with his daughter in Chennai twice during their stay in Malaysia, it is reported.

Speaking further on this, the pretty actress said that, she also had a chance to view some of his daughter’s videos and was surprised to see that his daughter sang so well. Sameera was all praise for Ajith’s little one and added that she has never heard a child sing so well before.

This was announced in a joint press release issued by the Tamil Film Prodcuers’ Council, Nadigar Sangam, Film Distributors’ Association, FEFSI, the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, and the Theatre Owners’ Association



Sushmita Sen disappointed



The former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen is deeply disappointed that her first production venture would not be Rani Laxmi Bai as planned. The lady says that with the present financial situation she would not be able to complete the film as planned and hence would work out on another project till then.

The actress reportedly told over the phone to the IANS, “When I open my production house, it’ll definitely be for producing films but I hoped ‘Rani Laxmi Bai’ will be the first one, which as of now, it won’t be.”

Sushmita says that she would never make any compromise on this film as she wants it to be the best.



Asian Filmmaker of the Year award announced


Yash Chopra, founder of Yash Raj Films, is due for a greater recognition next month for his exemplary work in the Indian cinema. The noted Bollywood producer-director will receive the prestigious Asian Filmmaker of the Year award at the Pusan International Film Festival that is to be held between October 8 and 16th. The press statement reads, “As the most influential producer and director in India over decades, Chopra has made remarkable contributions to establish Bollywood cinema on the global stage.”

The film festival will screen several of the films directed and produced by Yash Chopra
